چکیده
The Spectrometer/Telescope for Imaging X-rays (STIX) is the HXR instrument onboard Solar Orbiter designed to observe solar flares over a broad range of flare sizes, between 4-150 keV. We report first STIX observations microflares recorded during commissioning phase in order investigate performance at its detection limit. This result paper focuses on temporal and spectral evolution occuring AR12765 June 2020, compares measurements with GOES/XRS, SDO/AIA, Hinode/XRT. For observed GOES A B class, peak time lowest energies located impulsive flares, well before time. Such behavior can either be explained by higher sensitivity temperatures compared GOES, or due existence nonthermal component reaching down low energies. interpretation inconclusive limited counting statistics all but largest our sample. this flare, low-energy clearly thermal emission, seen occurs even earlier. suggests that classic explanation might also favored majority smaller flares. In combination EUV SXR observations, corroborates earlier findings an isothermal assumption validity. Future diagnostic efforts should focus multi-wavelength studies derive differential emission measure distributions wide accurately describe energetics Commissioning confirm working as designed. As rule thumb, detects small class. above detailed imaging analyses performed.

The Process of Data Formation for the Spectrometer/Telescope for Imaging X-rays (STIX) in Solar Orbiter
The Spectrometer/Telescope for Imaging X-rays (STIX) is a hard X-ray imaging spectroscopy device to be mounted in the Solar Orbiter cluster with the aim of providing images and spectra of solar flaring regions at different photon energies in the range from a few keV to around 150 keV. The imaging modality of this telescope is based on the Moiré pattern concept and utilizes 30 sub-collimators, e...
متن کاملMeasuring X-ray anisotropy in solar flares. Prospective stereoscopic capabilities of STIX and MiSolFA
Context. During a solar flare, a large percentage of the magnetic energy released goes into the kinetic energy of non-thermal particles, with X-ray observations providing a direct connection to keV flare-accelerated electrons. However, the electron angular distribution, a prime diagnostic tool of the acceleration mechanism and transport, is poorly known. Aims. During the next solar maximum, two...
متن کاملTanDEM-X: First Scientific Experiments during the Commissioning Phase
In this paper new and innovative techniques during the commissioning phase of TanDEM-X will be presented that are firstly demonstrated on a satellite platform. The focus is on the secondary goals of TanDEM-X that are assigned for the third year of the mission time life due to the tight schedule for the acquisition of the highly accurate global digital elevation model. Therefore, a variety of sc...
متن کاملRadio Versus EUV/X{Ray Observations of the Solar Atmosphere
This paper 1 reviews the contrasting properties of radio and EUV/X{ray observations for the study of the solar atmosphere. The emphasis is placed on explaining the nature of radio observations to an EUV/X{ray audience. Radio emission is produced by mechanisms which are well-understood within classical physics. Bremsstrahlung tends to be dominant at low frequencies, while gyroresonance emission ...
